Article Synopsis
  • The purpose of the study was to look at how different treatments for lymphatic malformations (LMs) in the head and neck work, to help decide what treatment is best.
  • The researchers reviewed a lot of articles and found that out of over 9,000, only 54 studies were useful, involving 1,573 young patients.
  • They learned that while different treatments didn’t show a big difference in reducing the size of the malformations, surgery and treating bigger cysts were better at reducing their size compared to other treatments.

This research is focused on rooms with a pair of parallel surfaces in which non-exponential reverberation energy decays are expected. An analytical model developed in a previous paper is first simplified and completed. It is based on the assumptions of geometrical room acoustics and the formalism of sound particles.

The ergodic propriety of a room has strong effects on its reverberation. If the room is ergodic, the reverberation can be broken up in two steps: a deterministic process followed by a stochastic one. The late reverberation can be then modeled by a reverberation algorithm instead of more computationally consuming methods.

Xenobiotic and endobiotic molecules can react with DNA leading to formation of so-called DNA adducts. This modified DNA can be repaired enzymatically, but, if not, these modifications are believed to be responsible for the initiation of carcinogenic processes. Hence, we studied the interaction of 2'-deoxynucleosides and 2'-deoxynucleotides with 3,4-estronequinone (3,4-E(1)Q), a metabolite of estrone (E(1)) and a supposed carcinogen.
