A headspace GC method was developed for the analysis of residual solvents in transdermal skin patches. These solvents could arise from the manufacture and process of the patch material.

An automated system for valve performance testing to determine net weight loss per actuation of pharmaceutical aerosol dosage forms has been developed and is described. The principal element of the system is a novel automatic aerosol actuation device. Details of the validation, comparison to manual methods of analysis and advantages are presented.

The results obtained compare favorably with those obtained from USP procedures. A simultaneous assay for aspirin and nonaspirin salicylates in buffered tablets involves the use of an acidified chromatographic siliceous earth column for the separation of the aspirin and nonaspirin salicylates from various buffers or antacids.
