Background: Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with a very-small-nuclear phenotype (vsnCTCs) in prostate cancer (PCa) are characterized by nuclei smaller than 8.5 μm. Our previous studies established an association between vsnCTCs and visceral metastasis.

Sea otters are an iconic keystone predator that can maintain kelp forests by preying on grazing invertebrates such as sea urchins. However, the effects of sea otters on kelp forests vary over their geographic range. Here, we analyze two 30-y datasets on kelp forest communities during the reintroduction of sea otters along the west coast of Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, and around San Nicolas Island, CA.

Mutations in the Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP), and accumulation of A contribute to AD, however, underlying mechanisms linking beta amyloid to lipid metabolism and neuroinflammation remain unclear. Using models, we demonstrate that and lead to progressive locomotor impairments, disrupted sleep activity, memory deficits, lipid dysregulation, loss of synaptic integrity, and neuroinflammation.

Here, we have utilized the Flp/FRT system to generate mitotic clones within the developing eye. These clones were screened for mutations that disrupt cell division, organ patterning, and cell growth.

This prospective study of 94 children intubated for severe pneumonia showed a negative predictive value of >99% for rapid MRSA nasal polymerase chain reaction swabs performed at diagnosis, suggesting they could aid initial antibiotic prescription in critically ill children with pneumonia.
