Coup de Sabre is a subset of localized linear scleroderma disease influenced by autoimmune, vascular, and genetic factors. Prevalence of asymptomatic malaria in high- and low-transmission areas of Tanzania: The role of asymptomatic carriers in malaria persistence and the need for targeted surveillance and control efforts.

As many countries implement different programs aimed at eliminating malaria, attention should be given to asymptomatic carriers that may interrupt the progress. This was a community-based cross-sectional study conducted in Tanzania from December 2022 to July 2023 within 4 villages from each of the 3 regions, Geita and Kigoma, which are high malaria transmission, and Arusha, which is low transmission. Malaria was diagnosed in asymptomatic individuals aged 1 year and older using the malaria rapid diagnostic test and light microscope.

Guideline-Concordant Antibiotic Use in Children With Community-Acquired Pneumonia.

Background: Despite national guidelines on appropriate antibiotic therapy, there is wide variation in antibiotic decision-making for children with community-acquired pneumonia. This study sought to determine prevalence and factors associated with guideline-concordant antibiotic use in children presenting with pneumonia to the emergency department (ED).

Methods: We enrolled children aged younger than 18 years presenting to the ED at 2 US children's hospitals between September 2017 and May 2019 with clinical and radiographic pneumonia.

Extent of lung fibrosis is of greater prognostic importance than HRCT pattern in patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis: data from the ILD-PRO registry.

Background: The prognostic value of patterns and quantitative measures of lung fibrosis on high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) in patients identified as having progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF) has not been established. We investigated whether HRCT patterns and quantitative scores were associated with risk of progression in patients with PPF.

Methods: Patients enrolled in the ILD-PRO Registry had an interstitial lung disease (ILD) other than idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, reticular abnormality and traction bronchiectasis, and met criteria for ILD progression.
