Mechanistic basis for the emergence of EPS1 as a catalyst in salicylic acid biosynthesis of Brassicaceae.

Salicylic acid (SA) production in Brassicaceae plants is uniquely accelerated from isochorismate by EPS1, a newly identified enzyme in the BAHD acyltransferase family. We present crystal structures of EPS1 from Arabidopsis thaliana in both its apo and substrate-analog-bound forms. Integrating microsecond-scale molecular dynamics simulations with quantum mechanical cluster modeling, we propose a pericyclic rearrangement lyase mechanism for EPS1.

Analyzing how the components of the SOFA score change over time in their contribution to mortality.

Objective: Determine how each organ component of the SOFA score differs in its contribution to mortality risk and how that contribution may change over time.

Methods: We performed multivariate logistic regression analysis to assess the contribution of each organ component to mortality risk on Days 1 and 7 of an intensive care unit stay. We used data from two publicly available datasets, eICU Collaborative Research Database (eICU-CRD) (208 hospitals) and Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV (MIMIC-IV) (1 hospital).

Cardiac MRI Pectoralis Muscle Thickness as a Measure of Sarcopenia: Prognostic Significance, Interreader Agreement, and Physiologic Correlation.

Materials and Methods This retrospective cohort study included adult patients undergoing cardiac MRI for assessment of suspected cardiomyopathy between October 2018 and February 2020. Measurements of maximum pectoralis major thickness were performed by two experienced radiologists using axial images at the level of the carina.

A systematic review of case reports and series published between 2013 and 2023 was conducted to capture the latest trends in psychiatric drug withdrawal.
