The deep Southern Ocean (SO) circulation plays a key role in the storage and release of CO in Earth's climate system. The uptake and release of CO strongly depend on the redistribution of well and poorly ventilated deep ocean water masses. Recently, evidence was found for possible stronger Pacific deep water overturning and subsequent intrusion into the SO during periods of reduced AMOC.

The initial investigation evaluates the feasibility of ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) as a material for reusable molds in aluminum casting. Two specific UHPC formulations were investigated: one based on ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and another utilizing alkali-activated materials (AAM). The study focused on investigating the surface through roughness measurements and the thermal durability through repeated casting cycles.

Patients with metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma survive longer if disease spreads to the lung but not the liver. Here we generated overlapping, multi-omic datasets to identify molecular and cellular features that distinguish patients whose disease develops liver metastasis (liver cohort) from those whose disease develops lung metastasis without liver metastases (lung cohort). Lung cohort patients survived longer than liver cohort patients, despite sharing the same tumor subtype.
