Background: Planning occupational health and wellness services and support directed toward low-wage, essential workers in the COVID-19 pandemic has posed a number of challenges across work settings. This article explores the concerns and needs of low-wage essential workers as understood by experts in the field.
Methods: Leading experts in the areas of occupational health and safety, risk management, insurance, and professional education/training were identified and invited to participate in a Round Table discussion.
: Injury and illness incidence rates continue to be higher in healthcare facilities than in the manufacturing environment despite improvement efforts implemented by various organizations. The prevention of workplace injury and illness is a challenge for facilities due to reasons including exposure to body fluids, infectious diseases, and patient handling activities. The purpose of this project was to reduce workplace safety-related incidents and prevent employee injuries through leadership involvement in employment of preventive, directive, and corrective controls.

Background: Chlamydia trachomatis is the most common identifiable infectious cause of neonatal conjunctivitis. Nonculture tests including enzyme immunoassays and direct fluorescent antibody tests have been shown to perform well for the diagnosis of chlamydial conjunctivitis with sensitivities and specificities > or = 90%. However, the performance with respiratory specimens has been less than satisfactory.
