Background And Purpose:  Recurrent hemarthrosis (RH) is a rare late complication of knee arthroplasty, with an unknown etiology. We aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of arterial embolization (AE) on resolution of hemarthrosis following knee arthroplasty. Additionally, we investigated pain management requirements after the procedure and related complications.

Article Synopsis
  • Large quantities of toxic chemical warfare materials, specifically sulphur mustard (HD) and arsenic-containing agents, were dumped in the Baltic Sea after WWII, with little known about their reactivity.
  • This study identified 22 new complexes formed between HD and arsenic agents using advanced analytical techniques, some of which were also found in environmental samples from CWA dumping sites.
  • The presence of these complexes raises concerns about their potential toxicity, highlighting the need for further research on their effects on marine life and human health, while also providing new insights into the reactivity of chemical warfare agents.

Background: Smoking and nicotine impose detrimental health effects including adipose tissue dysfunction. Despite extensive physiological evidence, the cellular mechanisms remain poorly understood, with few studies examining the effects of cigarette smoke extract (CSE) or nicotine on adipocyte differentiation.

Methods: Primary human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) were exposed to CSE or nicotine (50-500 ng/ml) during adipogenic differentiation.

Background: Extensive surgery on advanced-stage epithelial ovarian cancer is associated with increased postoperative morbidity, which may cause a delay in or omission of chemotherapy. We examined postoperative complications and their effects on adjuvant treatment in patients undergoing primary debulking surgery (PDS).

Methods: Stage IIIC-IV epithelial ovarian cancer patients who underwent PDS between January 2013 and December 2020 were included.
