Background: Neutrophils are the most rapid and abundant immune cells to infiltrate the myocardium following myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/R). Neutrophil heterogeneity has not been well characterized in MI/R, and studies have shown conflicting results regarding the impact of neutrophil depletion on cardiac injury. We thus aim to study the impact of neutrophils with enriched type I interferon signature and the role of STING (stimulator of interferon genes) signaling in neutrophils on cardiac reperfusion injury.

Epidural electrical stimulation (EES) has shown promise as both a clinical therapy and research tool for studying nervous system function. However, available clinical EES paddles are limited to using a small number of contacts due to the burden of wires necessary to connect each contact to the therapeutic delivery device, limiting the treatment area or density of epidural electrode arrays. We aimed to eliminate this burden using advanced on-paddle electronics.

Glycation is a posttranslational modification of proteins that contributes to the vast array of biological information that can be conveyed via a singular proteome. Understanding the role of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in human health and pathophysiology can be difficult, as the physiological effects of AGEs have been associated with multiple biological processes and disease state development, including acute myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, and atherosclerosis, as well as tumor cell migration. The critical role of the glyoxalase system in the detoxification of methylglyoxal and other AGEs has been well established.

Introduction: This study reviews the first 3 years of delivery of the first National Health Service (NHS)-commissioned trio rapid whole genome sequencing (rWGS) service for acutely unwell infants and children in Wales.

Methods: Demographic and phenotypic data were prospectively collected as patients and their families were enrolled in the Wales Infants' and childreN's Genome Service (WINGS). These data were reviewed alongside trio rWGS results.
