Nowadays, much of the attention paid to building construction is focused on sustainability and environmental protection. The materials applied in construction should be safe and free of toxins, but they should also follow the idea of circular construction. Quests for materials with an appropriate structure and composition, unifying features of a construction, insulation (thermally and acoustically), and environmentally friendly material turned our attention in this paper toward expanded perlite (EP).

Introduction: Shear wave elastography (SWE) is an ultrasound diagnostic method used to measure tissue stiffness. Since the mechanical properties of tissue involved in the pathological process change, SWE might indicate regions of the examined tissue covered by the disease. It is well documented that SWE helps to differentiate benign and malignant nodules in thyroid glands in adults, however, there are few studies on the application of SWE in thyroid diagnosis in children.

The most common post-acute consequences of SARS-CoV-2 include lung dysfunction, the impairment of cognitive functions and mental health, as well as the impairment of the musculoskeletal system in the form of fatigue and muscle weakness. Post-COVID-19 patients often experience impaired balance and reduced physical capacity. It is important to implement a rehabilitation program that eliminates the side effects of COVID-19 and allows for significant improvement in the patient's functionality.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the effects of N-acetylcysteine (NAC) on metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in rats, focusing on the eicosanoid pathway.
  • Male Wistar rats were fed either a standard diet or a high-fat diet for eight weeks while receiving NAC or saline, with various techniques used to assess liver tissue and related biomarkers.
  • Results showed that NAC reduced inflammation markers, diminished pro-inflammatory substances, and slowed the progression of fatty liver disease to hepatitis in the rat model.

Context: Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) aggressiveness and metastatic potential are closely associated with angioinvasion. Identifying angioinvasion accurately is imperative for treatment planning and prognosis.

Objective: This study explores serum biomarkers, including 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) and oxidative status markers (total oxidative capacity, total antioxidant capacity [TAC], and sortilin), as potential indicators of angioinvasion in PTC.
