Treating SIRVA Early With Corticosteroid Injections: A Case Series.

Shoulder injury related to vaccine administration (SIRVA) is defined as "shoulder pain with limited range of motion within 48 hours after vaccine receipt in individuals with no prior history of pain, inflammation, or dysfunction of the affected shoulder before vaccine administration." Corticosteroid injections (CSIs) have been proposed as a reasonable treatment modality for SIRVA, although evidence regarding efficacy is scanty. In this case series, we present two patients diagnosed with SIRVA who received CSI within 5 days of symptom onset and saw symptom resolution within 1 month.

Immunocytochemical localization of the lens main intrinsic polypeptide (MIP26) in communicating junctions.

Plasma membranes of vertebrate lens fiber cells contain a major intrinsic polypeptide with an apparent molecular weight of 26,000 (MIP26). These plasma membranes are extremely rich in communicating junctions, and it has been suggested that MIP26 is a component of them. MIP26 was purified from cow lenses using preparative SDS gel electrophoresis followed by hydroxylapatite column chromatography.

Analysis of microdissected cataractous human lenses.

The potential of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) as a technique for studying human cataractogenesis by analyzing minute quantities of lens proteins was demonstrated in a human retinitis pigmentosa (RP) lens. Individual human cortical cataractous lenses were microdissected. A well-defined opaque section was identified, the lens capsule was cut, and the section was removed.
