The trend in national childhood immunization program coverage throughout Serbian communities in Kosovo and Metohija from 2003 to 2022: pre-COVID-19 period vs. COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: The childhood immunization coverage in Serbian communities in Kosovo after the 1999 armed conflict has not been investigated. The study purpose was to evaluate the trend of immunization coverage with vaccines from the national childhood immunization program in Serbian communities in Kosovo and Metohija from 2003 to 2022.

Methods: Data were retrieved from the annual reports of the Public Health Institute of Kosovska Mitrovica received through notifications from the primary health centers where vaccines are being administered.

The Impact of Cytokines on Coagulation Profile in COVID-19 Patients: Controlled for Socio-Demographic, Clinical, and Laboratory Parameters.

Severe coagulation abnormalities are common in patients with COVID-19 infection. We aimed to investigate the relationship between pro-inflammatory cytokines and coagulation parameters concerning socio-demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics. Our study included patients hospitalized during the second wave of COVID-19 in the Republic of Serbia.

Risk Perception About HIV Among University Students in One of the Last Hotspots for HIV Transmission in Europe.

Background: HIV testing in the Northern Kosovo province is challenging, because the infrastructure is being rebuilt after the ethnic conflict. The purpose of this research was to examine self-perceived risk for acquiring HIV infection and factors associated with risk assessment among university students.

Methods: Students completed a questionnaire on socio-demographic data, knowledge about HIV prevention and transmission, attitudes toward people living with (PLHIV) and self-perceived risk for HIV infection.

Trends and patterns of antibiotics use in Serbia from 2006 to 2021: Pre-COVID-19 period versus COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Global rise in antibiotic utilization has been strongly associated with the resistance of bacteria to antibiotics. The COVID-19 saw an increase in the use of antibiotics in some countries. The aim of this study was to evaluate antibiotic utilization from 2006 to 2021 in the Republic of Serbia.

Border line cases and diagnostic doubts in definition kidney parenchymal and collecting tract neoplasia.

Aim of this work is to present cases of renal neoplasms where all available diagnostic modalities and control exams were applied, still explorative surgery was needed. Asymptomatic tissue mass with diagnostic findings of hypovascular renal cell carcinoma and renal pelvic carcinoma were inconclusive. While percutaneous CT guided biopsy is advisable in such cases, it was not performed due to central, hilar localization of the lesions and its small dimensions.
