Liver transplantation (LT) for metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is increasing globally due to rising rates of obesity and metabolic syndrome, posing significant challenges. MASLD patients typically present with advanced age, higher body mass index (BMI), and metabolic comorbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia. Comprehensive pre-transplant evaluations are crucial for assessing surgical risks and preparing patients for transplantation.

Case report: liver failure as a debut of autoimmune hepatitis triggered by dengue virus in a pregnant woman.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a complex condition with unclear origins, involving genetic susceptibility and environmental triggers that lead to immune system dysfunction. We report a case of a pregnant woman from a mosquito-borne disease-endemic area who presented jaundice, abdominal pain, and pruritus, complicated by acute liver failure. Immunological markers showed AIH triggered by dengue virus infection, which was confirmed by a positive IgM test.

Management of refractory hepatic hydrothorax: a report of two cases and review of the literature.

Hepatic hydrothorax is a transudative pleural effusion in patients with cirrhosis. A 56-year-old cirrhotic patient presented with dyspnea and desaturation; his chest images showed a right pleural effusion. Another 66-year-old woman with cirrhosis, developed during her hospitalization acute respiratory failure, and her chest X- ray showed left pleural effusion.

They are now defined as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), which includes cardiometabolic criteria in adults. This condition, extensively studied in obese or overweight patients, constitutes around 30% of the population, with a steady increase worldwide.
