The biosynthetic activity of the nucleoli of peripheral blood lymphocytes in calves, and the proportion of lymphocytes with the micronucleoli, with compact and ring-shaped nucleoli, were evaluated after experimental intranasal and intratracheal infections with the infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus. IBR virus belongs to the group of herpes viruses, the control of which is dominated by cellular immunity. The results are compared with the values for phagocytizing neutrophils, phagocytic activity and phagocytic index of the leucocytes of peripheral blood and with some basic haematological data.

In the course of study of alloantigenic immunoglobulin polymorphisms in 10 inbred chicken lines we detected 7 IgG allotypic specificities and 3 IgM allotypes. All birds in a given line possessed a unique combination of several IgG alloantigenic specificities (forming the phenogroup) which is presumably controlled by one allele at the locus designated a. We found five such phenogroups and five corresponding alleles (allele ac in three C lines, aI in three I lines, aW in two W lines, aM in line M, and aF in line F) in inbred lines tested.

Detailed analysis was performed in 17 selected serums obtained through alloimmunization of 64 receptors (cocks and hens, WP X RIR hybrids) of type 0 in the GANS system. The serum or egg yolk from hens of type A or B in the GANS system, used for immunization, was applied in five intramuscular injections with or without using Freund's complete adjuvant. It was found out that substance A GANS was present in 16 serums of the total number of those which were examined, so that in the receptors the application of serum or yolk changed the type of the GANS system from original 0 into type A, irrespective of the type of donor.
