Article Synopsis
  • The functioning of neural circuits is crucial for adapting to environmental changes, and various molecules, including neurotransmitters and amino acids, modulate neuronal activity.
  • Researchers investigated the role of an amino acid transporter (MND) in neurons of the adult brain and found it expressed in mushroom body neurons and glial cells.
  • Live calcium imaging revealed that MND is critical for the sensitivity of certain neurons to specific L-amino acids and that the TOR pathway, rather than the GDH pathway, is involved in their Leucine-dependent responses.
