Objective: Inflammation and atherosclerosis are present in both abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) and arterial occlusive disease (AOD). Changes in gene expression that underlie the development of AAA versus AOD are poorly defined. This study evaluated differences in gene expression in AAA, AOD, and control aortic tissue with human gene array technology.

Objective: To evaluate the inflow of the left internal thoracic artery (LITA) and the effect of adding a radial artery T-graft to distal LITA flow, and to calculate the LITA flow reserve.

Methods: Twenty-two patients underwent myocardial revascularization using the radial artery-LITA T-graft in which intraoperative flow measurements were recorded. An ultrasonic flowmeter was used to directly measure flow rates in the T-graft: 1) before completion of the distal anastomoses to measure maximum flow rates (free flow), and 2) after completion of distal anastomoses.

Intraventricular flows have been correlated with disease and are of interest to cardiologists as a possible means of diagnosis. This study extends a method that use magnetic resonance (MR) to measure the three-dimensional nature of these flows. Four coplanar, sagittal MR slices were located that spanned the left ventricle of a healthy human.
