Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is one of the leading causes of chronic liver disease globally. Based on the 2023 definition, MASLD is characterized by the presence of metabolic dysfunction and limited alcohol consumption (<140 grams/week for women, <210 grams/week for men). Given the significant burden of MASLD in Latin America, this guidance was developed by the Latin American Association for the Study of the Liver (ALEH) Working Group to address key aspects of its clinical assessment and therapeutic strategies.

Modern electronics face several challenges during operation, such as interference of disruptive electromagnetic signals and high temperatures within a limited space. Both electromagnetic interference (EMI) and thermal management could be tackled simultaneously by employing smart efficient materials with high thermal and electrical conductivity. A dual-curing epoxy system, a new subset of adaptable materials, could potentially solve those challenges, with the proper selection of the reinforcement.

Background And Objectives: Transverse myelitis (TM) is a rare neuro-inflammatory condition of the spinal cord that can cause chronic and debilitating symptoms reducing quality of life. TM is understudied in developing regions worldwide, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), where the prevalence of TM is unknown. Etiologies of TM are variable, but certain infectious, autoimmune or nutritional abnormalities may be more common in LAC with differing estimated prevalences of these etiologies.

Characterizing the HIV-1 reservoir in blood and tissues is crucial for the development of curative strategies. Using an HIV Tat mRNA-containing lipid nanoparticle (Tat-LNP) in combination with panobinostat, we show that p24+ cells from blood and lymph nodes exhibit distinct phenotypes. Blood p24+ cells are found in both central/transitional (TCM/TTM) and effector memory subsets, mostly lack CXCR5 expression and are enriched in GZMA+ cells.

Background/objective: Although breastfeeding is safe in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who take breastfeeding-compatible medications, rates of breastfeeding are inconsistent, and little is known about the lived experiences surrounding infant feeding among women with SLE. In this qualitative study, we identified factors that influence infant feeding practices of these women.

Methods: Using a phenomenological approach, we conducted and thematically analyzed semi-structured interviews on infant feeding practices with adult women with SLE evaluated at a single tertiary care musculoskeletal center who had given birth within the last 6 years.
