Background: Impairment in aspects of communication is a core diagnostic feature of schizophrenia and other psychotic spectrum disorders. Article Synopsis
  • Residents are required to engage in practice-based learning, typically through a patient follow-up log, but a new approach called the Patient Follow-Up Report (PFUR) was developed to enhance this process.
  • The PFUR is an automated monthly email report generated from electronic medical records, categorizing patient cases for better tracking, including those readmitted, diagnosed, expired, or flagged for follow-up.
  • After six months of using the PFUR, it significantly improved patient follow-up numbers, with 90% of residents preferring it over the previous method, as they found it valuable for both education and clinical care.

  • - Induction immunosuppression in solid organ transplants aims to prevent early rejection and reduce kidney injury by using strong immunosuppressive drugs during the perioperative period.
  • - In lung transplants, over 80% of adult recipients now receive induction therapy, predominantly using interleukin-2 receptor antagonists like basiliximab.
  • - Despite its growing use, there is limited evidence guiding the practice of induction immunosuppression in lung transplantation, leading to ongoing debates about its effectiveness.

Background: Despite medication being the most common healthcare intervention and medication-related incidents being common in hospitals, many rural and remote hospitals in Australia lack onsite pharmacy services due to resource constraints. A Virtual Clinical Pharmacy Service (VCPS) staffed by two senior, rural generalist hospital pharmacists assigned to four hospitals each was implemented in rural and remote facilities to determine whether the VCPS increased adherence to National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS).

Methods: A stepped-wedge randomised controlled trial was employed to sequentially implement a telehealth pharmacy service at one-month intervals in eight hospitals.
