Background: This study aims to compare outcomes and utilization of robotics in bariatric procedures across two-time intervals, chosen because they correspond to drastic changes in technology utilization-namely, a new platform and a new stapling device. Outcomes of robotic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (rRYGB) and robotic sleeve gastrectomy (rSG) across this changing landscape have not been well studied, despite increasing popularity.

Methods: The MBSAQIP database was analyzed over early (2015-2016) and late (2019-2020) time intervals.

Methane pyrolysis is a process used to generate hydrogen gas and carbon black without the creation of carbon dioxide. Methane pyrolysis in a constant volume batch reactor was investigated at temperatures of 892, 1093, and 1292 K with reaction times of 15, 30, 60, 180, and 300 s at an initial pressure of 399 kPa. A quartz vessel (32 mL) was placed inside an oven where it was heated to high temperatures.

Introduction: The underlying pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus after acute pancreatitis is unknown and overall risk of developing diabetes postacute pancreatitis in children is understudied. The objective of our study was to describe the frequency of islet cell autoimmunity and abnormal glucose testing in pediatric patients in the year following their index case of acute pancreatitis.

Materials And Methods: Data were obtained from a single-center observational cohort study of patients with their first episode of acute pancreatitis.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explored the use of [F]FLT PET imaging as a biomarker to assess the effectiveness of the CDK4/6 inhibitor palbociclib in a non-breast cancer model, specifically bladder tumors in mice.
  • - Twenty-four mice with patient-derived bladder tumors were divided into four treatment groups: vehicle, palbociclib, temozolomide, and the combination of both drugs, with their tumor response evaluated using PET imaging on specific days after treatment began.
  • - Results showed that [F]FLT uptake significantly decreased in the palbociclib and combination groups, indicating effective tumor control, while uptake increased and tumor growth occurred in the temozolomide group,
