The Peach-Koehler force between disclination lines was originally formulated in the study of crystalline solids, and has since been adopted to provide a notion of interactions between disclination lines in nematic liquid crystals. Here, we argue that the standard formulation of this interaction force seemingly fails for materials where there is a symmetry-broken ground state, and suggest that this is due to the interaction between disclination lines and merons: non-singular yet non-trivial topological solitons. We examine this in the context of chiral nematic (cholesteric) liquid crystals, which provide a natural setting for studying these interactions due to their energetic preference for meron tubes in the form of double-twist cylinders.

It is critical for hematology and oncology providers to be aware of the diagnostic findings, physical examination findings, and aspects of family history that raise suspicion for an underlying GPS. Moreover, recognition of how somatic gene panel testing, frequently done at the time of HM diagnosis, may raise suspicion for an underlying germline condition based on the mutation profile reported, is prudent.

Objective: The objective of this study was to quantify whether interapical distance and coronal balance measured on 3D ultrasound (3DUS) images differed among ten standing positions of participants with and without adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).
Summary Of Background Data: Apical vertebral translation (AVT) is an indicator of clinical symptoms and treatment outcomes in AIS.
Background: With growing evidence suggesting that levels of emotional well-being have been decreasing globally over the past few years, demand for easily accessible, convenient, and affordable well-being and mental health support has increased. Although mental health apps designed to tackle this demand by targeting diagnosed conditions have been shown to be beneficial, less research has focused on apps aiming to improve emotional well-being. There is also a dearth of research on well-being apps structured around users' lived experiences and emotional patterns and a lack of integration of real-world evidence of app usage.
