A Multicenter Global Registry of Paclitaxel Drug-Coated Balloon in Dysfunctional Arteriovenous Fistulae and Grafts: 6-Month Results.

Purpose: To assess the safety and clinical benefit of the Lutonix drug-coated balloon (DCB) catheter for the treatment of dysfunctional arteriovenous fistulae (AVF) and grafts (AVG) in a heterogenous real-world population.

Materials And Methods: This multicenter, prospective study enrolled 320 subjects from 12 countries in 25 sites across Europe and Asia. A total of 392 lesions were treated with the Lutonix 035 DCB catheter.

A 47 year-old man, who had a history of pelvic radiotherapy for the treatment of testicular tumour 30 years ago, was referred with minor tissue loss of the right lower extremity, grade III, category 5 of the Rutherford classification. His groin region presented with severe radiation damage. Arteriography demonstrated the occlusion of external iliac and femoral arteries.

Management of descending necrotizing mediastinitis: an aggressive treatment for an aggressive disease.

Background: Descending necrotizing mediastinitis represent a virulent form of mediastinal infection requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment to reduce the high mortality associated with this disease. Surgical management and a particularly optimal form of mediastinal drainage remain controversial.

Methods: Over a 10-year period, 12 patients were treated at our institution.

[In situ thrombolysis in the treatment of venous thrombosis of effort in the arm].

From March 1989 to March 1993, six athletic patients were treated in our institution by thrombolytic therapy for acute effort axillary-subclavian vein thrombosis in thoracic outlet syndrome. Mean age of these patients was 20 (range 14 to 27). An in situ infusion with urokinase (2,500 U/kg/h) and Heparin (100 U/kg/12 hours) was given during 64 hours (Range 14 to 72).

[Surgical vein reconstruction in patients with tumor invasiveness of the superior caval system. Retrospective study of 7 cases].

We studied retrospectively all patients who underwent vascular reconstruction after tumor invasion of the superior vena cava in order to assess the surgical procedure. Seven patients were operated including 5 with compression of the superior vena cava. Compression regressed within 24 hours without recurrence.
