The impact of neoadjuvant therapy in patients with left-sided resectable pancreatic cancer: an international multicenter study.

Purpose: To assess the association between neoadjuvant therapy and overall survival (OS) in patients with left-sided resectable pancreatic cancer (RPC) compared to upfront surgery.

Background: Left-sided pancreatic cancer is associated with worse OS compared to right-sided pancreatic cancer. Although neoadjuvant therapy is currently seen as not effective in patients with RPC, current randomized trials included mostly patients with right-sided RPC.

Optimizing Surgical Outcomes in Gastric Cancer: A Comparison of Laparoscopic and Open Total Gastrectomy.

Background: The efficacy of the laparoscopic approach for total gastrectomy(TG) in Western countries remains under discussion. Recently, Textbook Outcome(TO) has gained recognition as a comprehensive measure of care quality in upper gastrointestinal surgery. Although predictive factors for TO after TG are well-documented, the influence of the surgical approach requires further analysis.

Cirrhosis associated with increased complications and healthcare utilization following total shoulder arthroplasty.

Introduction: Cirrhosis is a known risk factor for morbidity and mortality following surgical procedures and has been associated with increased complications, hospital length of stay (LOS), and cost of admission following total joint arthroplasty. However, a paucity of literature exists evaluating the effect of cirrhosis on postoperative outcomes following total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the short-term outcomes following elective primary TSA in patients with cirrhosis compared to matched controls.

Assessing Fears of Negative Consequences in Children With Symptoms of Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.

Objective: Fear of Aversive Consequences (FOAC), such as choking or vomiting, is an important associated feature of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). However, the manifestation of FOAC in young children is poorly understood. This study aimed to describe the fears of children with ARFID symptoms and examine the concordance between parent and child ratings of fear.
