Background: Cardiovascular disease causes vascular dementia and contributes to most clinical dementia. This is embodied in the concept of vascular contributions to cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID). The potent endogenous peptide endothelin-1 (ET1) causes small artery vasoconstriction and fibrosis.

Background: There is a lack of evidence to suggest that outcomes of adolescent and adult-onset glomerular disease differ. Still, most glomerular disease trials include adults but exclude adolescents.

Methods: We designed a retrospective study using the CureGN database to compare individuals with adolescent-onset glomerular disease relative to individuals with older and younger age at onset.

The University of Kentucky's Drug Quality Task Force (DQTF) conducted a study to perform consumer-level quality assurance screening of vasopressin injections used in their healthcare pharmacies. The primary objective was to identify potential quality defects by examining intralot and interlot variability using Raman spectrometry and statistical analyses. Raman spectra were collected noninvasively and nondestructively from vasopressin vials (n=51) using a Thermo Scientific Smartraman DXR3 Analyzer.

Supraphysiological androgen (SPA) treatment can paradoxically restrict growth of castration-resistant prostate cancer with high androgen receptor (AR) activity, which is the basis for use of Bipolar Androgen Therapy (BAT) for patients with this disease. While androgens are widely appreciated to enhance anabolic metabolism, how SPA-mediated metabolic changes alter prostate cancer progression and therapy response is unknown. Here, we report that SPA markedly increased intracellular and secreted polyamines in prostate cancer models.

Objectives: Endogenous retroelements (EREs) stimulate type 1 interferon (IFN-I) production but have not been explored as potential interferonogenic triggers in Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). We investigated ERE expression in early RA (eRA), a period where IFN-I is increased.

Methods: ERE expression (LTR5, LINE1, SINE) in disease modifying treatment naïve eRA whole blood and bulk synovial tissue was examined by RT-PCR and Nanostring alongside IFN-α activity.
