The budding yeast Xrn1 protein shuttles between the nucleus, where it stimulates transcription, and the cytoplasm, where it executes the major cytoplasmic mRNA decay. In the cytoplasm, apart from catalyzing 5'→3' decay onto non translated mRNAs, Xrn1 can follow the last translating ribosome to degrade the decapped mRNA template, a process known as "cotranslational mRNA decay". We have previously observed that the import of Xrn1 to the nucleus is required for efficient cytoplasmic mRNA decay.

Similarly to humans, obesity negatively impacts the health and welfare of cats, predisposing them to many other disorders. The objective of this study was to compare the serum proteomes of normal-weight and overweight/obese cats, aiming to gain insights into the physiopathology of feline obesity and potentially identify new biomarkers.

This study explores the interaction between G4s and a small family of oligostyrylbenzene (OSB) derivatives, characterized by tris(styryl)benzene and tetrastyrylbenzene backbones, functionalized with either trimethylammonium or 1-methylpyridinium groups. Initially identified as DNA ligands, these OSB derivatives have now been recognized as potent G4 binders, surpassing in binding affinity commercially available ligands such as pyridostatin and displaying good selectivity for G4s over duplex DNA.

Yet the differential roles and biological functions of co-targeting transcription factors is poorly understood. In melanoma, three highly-related transcription factors are co-expressed: The mTORC1-regulated TFEB and TFE3, that are key effectors of a wide range of metabolic and microenvironmental cues; and MITF, that controls melanoma phenotypic identity.

Within social robotics, enhancing user perception of the robot and promoting a sense of natural interaction with robots becomes a central element. In this sense, emulating human-centric qualities in social robots, such as joint attention, defined as the ability of two or more individuals to focus on a common event simultaneously, can increase their acceptability.
