Ethical issues in conducting health research with people in prison: Results of a deliberative research project conducted with people in Australian prisons.

Planning research involving people in prison raises concerns based on past abuses of incarcerated people amongst other factors. Despite the development of guidelines for the ethical conduct of research in prisons, researchers and advocates have questioned whether current approaches aimed at protecting incarcerated persons from unethical research unfairly exclude this group from participating in and benefitting from research. Discussion of these issues comes mostly from expert opinion.

Site-Selective -Arylation of Carbohydrate Derivatives through Nickel-Photoredox Catalysis.

Site-selective -arylations of glycoside-derived diols have been achieved by couplings with bromoarenes upon irradiation with blue LEDs in the presence of an iridium photocatalyst and a nickel complex. The use of hexamethylenetetramine (hexamine) in place of quinuclidine, along with the application of a methoxy-substituted 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, provided improvements in yield for this relatively challenging substrate class. Selective arylation took place at the less sterically hindered OH group, as determined by the substitution pattern and configuration of the glycoside substrate.

SNAP Online Food Shopping: Nutrition Education Needs Perceived by Practitioners.

The change in policy that allowed Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients to redeem their benefits online during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic highlighted the potential role of nutrition education programs in facilitating the purchase of healthy, economical food online. The objective of this exploratory qualitative study was to understand the education provided by nutrition educators on online grocery shopping and educators' perspectives on education needs and ways that healthy purchases can be encouraged online. Interviews revealed topics that can be included in in-person education on online shopping, insights for online nutrition education, and promotion strategies for encouraging healthy purchases by low-income shoppers online.

Determinants of riverine migration success by Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) smolts from rivers across the UK and Ireland.

There is some evidence that the river migration success of Atlantic salmon smolts, on their first migration to sea, varies both spatially and temporally. However, we have only a poor understanding of what may be driving this variation. In this study, we used acoustic telemetry to quantify the spatial and temporal variations in river migration success in Atlantic salmon smolts on their first migration to sea.
