Effectiveness of Tinnitan Duo® in Subjective Tinnitus with Emotional Affectation: A Prospective, Interventional Study.

To assess the effectiveness of a food supplement (Tinnitan Duo®) containing 5-hydroxytryptophan, , magnesium, melatonin, vitamin B5 and B6, and zinc at improving tinnitus response and intensity. Prospective, single-center interventional study including patients with subjective tinnitus and emotional affectation. The primary endpoint was the change in the Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI) total score and the emotional subscale after 3 months of treatment.

Planar Phase-Variation Microwave Sensors for Material Characterization: A Review and Comparison of Various Approaches.

Planar phase-variation microwave sensors have attracted increasing interest in recent years since they combine the advantages of planar technology (including low cost, low profile, and sensor integration with the associated circuitry for post-processing and communication purposes, among others) and the possibility of operation at a single frequency (thereby reducing the costs of the associated electronics). This paper reviews and compares three different strategies for sensitivity improvement in such phase-variation sensors (devoted to material characterization). The considered approaches include line elongation (through meandering), dispersion engineering (by considering slow-wave artificial transmission lines), and reflective-mode sensors based on step-impedance open-ended lines.

Clinical experience with brivaracetam in a series of 46 children.

Objectives: The primary objective of the study was to analyze the efficacy of brivaracetam (BRV) in pediatric patients 12 months after starting treatment. The secondary objective was to establish safety 3, 6, and 12 months after starting treatment.

Materials And Method: This was an observational and retrospective study.

Angular Displacement and Velocity Sensors Based on Coplanar Waveguides (CPWs) Loaded with S-Shaped Split Ring Resonators (S-SRR).

In this paper, angular displacement and angular velocity sensors based on coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission lines and S-shaped split ring resonators (S-SRRs) are presented. The sensor consists of two parts, namely a CPW and an S-SRR, both lying on parallel planes. By this means, line-to-resonator magnetic coupling arises, the coupling level being dependent on the line-to-resonator relative angular orientation.

Pain treatment and its cost in old people with dementia: a descriptive analysis from the Registry of Dementias of Girona (ReDeGi).

Background: Pain prevalence is high among elderly people, and equally prevalent in those with dementia. The aim of this study was to describe the use analgesics, as well as the cost of these treatments in old people with dementia.

Methods: We used a cross-sectional design using 1186 cases registered by the Registry of Dementias of Girona from 2007 to 2008.
