Background: Adolescents (10-19 years old) have poor outcomes across the prevention-to-treatment HIV care continuum, leading to significant mortality and morbidity. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of interventions that documented HIV outcomes among adolescents in HIV high-burden countries.

Methods: We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Scopus, and the Cochrane Library for studies published between January 2015 and September 2024, assessing at least one HIV outcome along the prevention-to-care cascade, including PrEP uptake, HIV testing, awareness of HIV infections, ARV adherence, retention, and virological suppression.

Objectives: Inhalants are often used for their psychoactive effects, producing feelings of euphoria. Inhalant and solvent use is a serious public health concern, yet little is known about their effects on perinatal, fetal, and child outcomes. The aim of our review is to evaluate the impact of inhalant use by pregnant people on maternal, fetal, neonatal, and early childhood outcomes.

Background: Point-of-care (PoC) hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA viral load (VL) assays represent an alternative to laboratory-based standard-of-care (SoC) VL assays to accelerate diagnosis and treatment. We evaluated the impact of using PoC versus SoC approaches on the uptake of VL testing, treatment, and turnaround times from testing to treatment across the HBV care cascade.

Methods: We searched 5 databases, 6 conference websites, and contacted manufacturers for unpublished reports, for articles with or without a comparator (SoC VL testing), and had data on the uptake of VL testing, treatment, or turnaround times between hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) testing, VL testing, and treatment in the cascade.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aims to investigate the link between ultrasound findings during pregnancy and adverse outcomes for fetuses, mothers, and newborns in women with type 1 (T1DM) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
  • A systematic review of existing literature included 12 studies that focused on ultrasound measures related to fetal growth, assessing outcomes such as stillbirth, neonatal complications, and birth weight.
  • The review highlights that while most studies analyzed growth measurements, they did not address stillbirth rates or other maternal health outcomes except for cesarean section rates, indicating gaps in the current research.
