Gliomas are aggressive neoplasms that diffusely infiltrate the brain and cause neurological symptoms, including cognitive deficits and seizures. Increased mTOR signaling has been implicated in glioma-induced neuronal hyperexcitability, but the molecular and functional consequences have not been identified. Here, we show three types of changes in tumor-associated neurons: (1) downregulation of transcripts encoding excitatory and inhibitory postsynaptic proteins and dendritic spine development and upregulation of cytoskeletal transcripts via neuron-specific profiling of ribosome-bound mRNA, (2) marked decreases in dendritic spine density via light and electron microscopy, and (3) progressive functional alterations leading to neuronal hyperexcitability via in vivo calcium imaging.

In this study, the copper(II) complex [Cu(chromoneTSC)Cl]•0.5HO•0.0625CHOH (where chromoneTSC = -Ethyl-2-((4-oxo-4H-chromen-3-yl)methylene)-hydrazinecarbothioamide) was synthesized and characterized; then used to carry out studies in combination with berberine chloride (BBC).

Background And Objectives: Numerous traditional and innovative approaches have been employed to understand and evaluate children's food preferences and food and nutrition knowledge, recognizing their essential role in shaping good nutrition. Drawing as a projective technique allows children to express their unconscious thoughts and preferences through visual representation, distinguishing it from other methods by providing an insight into their inner feelings and perceptions that may not be easily articulated through verbal techniques. The main goals of the study are to use drawing as a projective technique to gain insights into children's food preferences, and to examine the children's current nutrition knowledge and dietary perceptions.

Background: Re-irradiation of recurrent head and neck cancer (HNC) is often limited by tumour adherence to critical structures and/or radiation tolerance of critical normal tissues. Iopofosine I 131 (CLR 131) is a targeted small molecular phospholipid ether (PLE) drug conjugate that delivers iodine-131 selectively to tumour cells. We conducted a phase 1, single-centre, open-label study to determine whether CLR 131 given with reduced dose of external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) would be tolerable and feasible.

Many proteins can exist in multiple conformational states to achieve distinct functional roles. These states include alternative conformations, variable PTMs, and association with interacting protein, nucleotide, and ligand partners. Quantitative chemical cross-linking of live cells, organelles, or tissues together with mass spectrometry provides the relative abundance of cross-link levels formed in two or more compared samples, which depends both on the relative levels of existent protein conformational states in the compared samples as well as the relative likelihood of the cross-link originating from each.
