Somatic mutations altering EZH2 (Tyr641) in follicular and diffuse large B-cell lymphomas of germinal-center origin.

Follicular lymphoma (FL) and the GCB subtype of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) derive from germinal center B cells. Targeted resequencing studies have revealed mutations in various genes encoding proteins in the NF-kappaB pathway that contribute to the activated B-cell (ABC) DLBCL subtype, but thus far few GCB-specific mutations have been identified. Here we report recurrent somatic mutations affecting the polycomb-group oncogene EZH2, which encodes a histone methyltransferase responsible for trimethylating Lys27 of histone H3 (H3K27).

[Virological and carcinogenic aspects of HPV].

Human papillomaviruses are small viruses belonging to the Papillomaviridae. More than 100 genotypes have been identified, causing benign (low-risk HPV) or malignant (high-risk HPV) cutaneous or mucosal lesions. The low-risk HPV6 and HPV11 provoke genital warts, while the high-risk HPV16 and HPV18 can cause cervical cancer.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) genotype distribution in invasive cervical cancers in France: EDITH study.

Invasive cervical cancer (ICC) remains a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in France. Since human papillomavirus (HPV) is the necessary cause of ICC, the aim of this study was to assess the type-specific prevalence of HPV in ICC in France in order to locally evaluate the potential benefit of an HPV 16/18 L1 virus-like particles (VLP) vaccination. A total of 516 histological specimens collected in 15 centers were analyzed.

Clinical response to intra-articular injections of hylan G-F 20 in symptomatic hip osteoarthritis: the OMERACT-OARSI criteria applied to the results of a pilot study.

Objective: To assess, using the OMERACT-OARSI criteria, the clinical response of patients presenting with symptomatic hip osteoarthritis (OA) to one intra-articular injection of hylan G-F 20.

Methods: Open-label, multi-centre, prospective, pilot study. Fifty-six patients presenting with primary hip OA, Kellgren-Lawrence grade II-III, age > or =40, with walking pain measuring 50-90 mm on a 100 mm visual analogue scale (VAS).
