MXenes are a class of two-dimensional nanomaterials with the general formula MXT, where M denotes a transition metal, X denotes either carbon or nitrogen and T refers to surface terminations, such as -OH, -O, -F or -Cl. The unique properties of MXenes, including their tunable surface chemistry and high surface area-to-volume ratio, make them promising candidates for various biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery, photothermal therapy and so on. Among the family of MXenes, titanium (Ti)-based MXenes, especially TiCT, have been extensively explored for biomedical applications.

We investigated the relationship between self-reported history of visual impairment in youth and the development of dementia in later life using data from the Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) household survey, which included the Eight-item Informant Interview to Differentiate Aging and Dementia (AD-8) screen. Adults with a reported history of childhood visual impairment were found to have significantly higher odds of positive dementia screening. After adjusting for confounders, we found a twofold increase in those reporting early visual impairment compared with those who did not report early visual impairment.

We describe a unique case of sclerouveitis that progressed to endogenous endophthalmitis in a 69-year-old male with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We highlight the risk of treating sclerouveitis with oral corticosteroids, which can exacerbate an infection and contribute to disease progression. A 69-year-old male with CLL on zanubrutinib, a second-generation Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor, was admitted to the hospital for osteomyelitis of the left foot.

: Despite the role of metabolism in breast cancer metastasis, we still cannot predict which breast tumors will progress to distal metastatic lesions or remain dormant. This work uses metabolic imaging to study breast cancer cell lines (4T1, 4T07, and 67NR) with differing metastatic potential in a 3D collagen gel bioreactor system. : Within the bioreactor, hyperpolarized magnetic resonance spectroscopy (HP-MRS) is used to image lactate/pyruvate ratios, while fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) of endogenous metabolites measures metabolism at the cellular scale.

Background: Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) is inferred as persistent sleepiness and often a general lack of energy during the day even after apparently adequate or even prolonged nighttime sleep. The subjects may not be identifying excessive daytime sleepiness but may present as feeling tired, lack of energy etc. They may seem apparently healthy and without any other systemic illness.
