Disentangling the neural underpinnings of response inhibition in disruptive behavior and co-occurring ADHD.

While impaired response inhibition has been reported in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), findings in disruptive behavior disorders (DBDs) have been inconsistent, probably due to unaccounted effects of co-occurring ADHD in DBD. This study investigated the associations of behavioral and neural correlates of response inhibition with DBD and ADHD symptom severity, covarying for each other in a dimensional approach. Functional magnetic resonance imaging data were available for 35 children and adolescents with DBDs (8-18 years old, 19 males), and 31 age-matched unaffected controls (18 males) while performing a performance-adjusted stop-signal task.

Blood Parameters in Children and Adolescents With Underweight and Atypical Anorexia Nervosa.

Objective: This study aimed to identify biochemical, hematological, and endocrinological abnormalities in a sample of children and adolescents with underweight AN and atypical AN and to compare these results between the two groups.

Method: Based on the 5th BMI-percentile admission, adolescents with underweight AN (n = 520) and atypical AN (n = 255) were included and medical records were reviewed.

Results: Low prealbumin (35%) and neutropenia (39%), and several abnormalities in endocrinological parameters (50%) were the most common alterations found in the whole sample.

Integrated vs. parallel treatment in adolescents with substance use and comorbid disorders: A randomized trial.

Integrated treatments are often recommended for adolescents with substance use disorders (SUD) and comorbid pathologies. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of two different intervention programs (integrated and parallel) and to investigate treatment outcome predictors. Seventy-five adolescents (13-17 years old) with substance use and comorbid disorders referred to our outpatient program were randomized to integrated (n = 33) or parallel (n = 32) treatment groups.

Cognitive reserve and cognition in mood disorders: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Cognitive functioning heterogeneity is a well-recognized phenomenon in individuals diagnosed with mood disorders. Cognitive Reserve (CR) has been linked to multiple positive outcomes, including cognitive performance in these patients. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to provide a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between CR and cognitive functioning in individuals with mood disorders, including bipolar disorder and depressive disorders.
