Background: Maternal mortality remains a challenge in Ghana, where 263 women per 100 000 live births die during pregnancy or childbirth. Barriers to reaching the recommended antenatal care (ANC) include poor access to quality health care, cultural factors, and lack of support for pregnant women.

Methods: We piloted two cross-randomized interventions: durbars, or local community meetings that incorporated education about ANC and supporting pregnant women, and an enhanced ANC model that added phone calls and a home visit to standard care.

Polymer semiconductor/insulator blends offer a promising avenue to achieve desired mechanical properties, environmental stability, and high device performance in organic field-effect transistors. A comprehensive understanding of process-structure-property relationships necessitates a thorough exploration of the composition space to identify transitions in performance, morphology, and phase behavior. Hence, this study employs a high-throughput gradient thin film library, enabling rapid and continuous screening of composition-morphology-device performance relationships in conjugated polymer blends.

Three incidents that impacted two US newborn screening (NBS) programs highlight the importance of contingency planning for the continuity of operations (COOP). Other NBS programs may benefit from the experience of these state programs for their own contingency planning efforts. Through after-action reviews conducted post-incident, crucial elements for the successful management of an incident were identified.

Introduction: Older patients are expected to comprise 40 % of trauma admissions in the next 30 years. The use of whole blood (WB) has shown promise in improving mortality while lowering the utilization of blood products. However, the use of WB in older trauma patients has not been examined.

Background: Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified hundreds of common variants associated with alcohol consumption. In contrast, genetic studies of alcohol consumption that use rare variants are still in their early stages. No prior studies of alcohol consumption have examined whether common and rare variants implicate the same genes and molecular networks, leaving open the possibility that the two approaches might identify distinct biology.
