Fatal infant nasal seawater spray instillation.

Unlabelled: The use of seawater nasal spray is considered safe and sold as a non-prescription medicine. However, it is well known that nasal manipulations can provoke vagal reaction leading to acute life-threatening events. A case of fatal seawater nasal spray application in an infant is presented.

Infrequent alteration of the DPC4 tumor suppressor gene in renal cell carcinoma.

The aim of this study was to investigate the alterations in the DPC4 tumor suppressor gene in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The study included 32 tumor specimens from Croatian patients with a diagnosis of RCC. Loss of heterozygosity (LOH) was investigated using three specific oligonucleotide primers for the three DPC4 polymorphic markers.

Hereditary and environmental dental findings in identification of human remains.

The paper presents the results on hereditary and environmental dental findings in identification of human remains exhumed from mass graves in the Republic of Croatia. The total of 17,880 teeth from all the categories (incisors, canines, premolars and molars) was examined. Hereditary findings of the teeth such as shape, size, position, as well as age were used in all of the cases confirming and completing the identification.
