Mangrove vegetation provides natural protection against coastal hazards like flooding and erosion. In spite of their economic and societal value, mangrove forests have experienced a worldwide decline due to human activities. Bamboo structures, formed by poles driven into the soil, are being used to create a sheltered environment for mangrove restoration.

The relation between the electrokinetic charge of kaolinite particles and their flocculation behavior has been investigated over a wide range of pH and added salt (for MgCl(2) and NaCl salts). All flocculation experiments have been done with a mixing jar (sediment volume concentration phi=3.84x10(-5)).

The current theory of projections of fractals is considered in this paper with application to fractal aggregates. In particular, this theory does not accurately enable the computation of the capacity dimension of three-dimensional aggregates from the capacity dimension of their two-dimensional projections. Herein we propose to compute the three-dimensional capacity dimension from the perimeter-based fractal dimension, using a semiempirical equation, an approach not applied earlier.
