Few studies have investigated interruptions to the work of professionals practicing in inpatient hospitals, and even fewer take account of the functions that make up the system. Safety of care can be improved by considering avoidable interruptions during interactions between managerial and care delivery functions. The present study describes the characteristics of interruptions to the work of professionals working in the inpatient hospital sector, with respect to their typology, frequency, duration, and avoidability in the context of interactions between functions.

Introduction: The extended half-life of dalbavancin justifies a once-a-week dosing schedule and is supposed to favour early discharge. These advantages may therefore compensate for the cost of dalbavancin, but no real-life assessment has been conducted to date. We aimed to assess the real-life budget impact of dalbavancin through its impact on the length of stay in French hospitals.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess the knowledge and practices of nursing home professionals regarding geriatric oncology in the Pays-de-la-Loire region, highlighting the need for increased awareness due to the rising rate of cancer among older adults.
  • An observational survey conducted between April and September 2017 involved 589 nursing homes, with responses from 82 coordinating doctors, 147 nurses, and 240 paramedics revealing that only a minority were familiar with oncogeriatric concepts and tools.
  • Findings indicated significant gaps in knowledge and coordination among healthcare professionals, suggesting that improving training and communication could enhance cancer care for elderly nursing home residents.

Background: In biology, high-throughput experimental technologies, also referred as "omics" technologies, are increasingly used in research laboratories. Several thousands of gene expression measurements can be obtained in a single experiment. Researchers are routinely facing the challenge to annotate, store, explore and mine all the biological information they have at their disposal.

Peptides and mini proteins have many biological and biomedical implications, which motivates the development of accurate methods, suitable for large-scale experiments, to predict their experimental or native conformations solely from sequences. In this study, we report PEP-FOLD2, an improved coarse grained approach for peptide de novo structure prediction and compare it with PEP-FOLD1 and the state-of-the-art Rosetta program. Using a benchmark of 56 structurally diverse peptides with 25-52 amino acids and a total of 600 simulations for each system, PEP-FOLD2 generates higher quality models than PEP-FOLD1, and PEP-FOLD2 and Rosetta generate near-native or native models for 95% and 88% of the targets, respectively.
