Clinical validation of a wireless patch-based polysomnography system.

Study Objectives: Onera Health has developed the first wireless, patch-based, type-II PSG system, the Onera Sleep Test System (STS), to allow studies to be performed unattended at the patient's home or in any bed at a medical facility. The goal of this multicenter study was to validate data collected from the patch-based PSG to a traditional PSG for sleep staging and AHI.

Methods: Simultaneous traditional PSG and patch-based PSG study data were obtained in a sleep laboratory from 206 participants with a suspected sleep disorder recruited from 7 clinical sites.

Aim: After spinal cord injuries (SCIs), patients may develop either detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia (DSD) or urinary incontinence, depending on the level of the spinal injury. DSD and incontinence reflect the loss of coordinated neural control among the detrusor muscle, which increases bladder pressure to facilitate urination, and urethral sphincters and pelvic floor muscles, which control the bladder outlet to restrict or permit bladder emptying. The failure of chemoreflexes, arousal, and/or autoresuscitation to asphyxia may underlie some sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) cases. In Part I, we showed that some SIDS infants had altered 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT)2A/C receptor binding in medullary nuclei supporting chemoreflexes, arousal, and autoresuscitation. Here, using the same dataset, we tested the hypotheses that the prevalence of low 5-HT1A and/or 5-HT2A/C receptor binding (defined as levels below the 95% confidence interval of controls-a new approach), and the percentages of nuclei affected are greater in SIDS versus controls, and that the distribution of low binding varied with age of death.
