We demonstrate (1) detectable halogen bonding is not critical for enabling light-driven radical generation from diaryliodonium salts and (2) radicals generated by this route can be captured by transition-metals for C-H arylation reactions. These results are the first step toward developing new metal-catalyzed aryl radical couplings without exogenous photocatalysts.

We show, for the first time, radio measurements of the depth of shower maximum (X_{max}) of air showers induced by cosmic rays that are compared to measurements of the established fluorescence method at the same location. Using measurements at the Pierre Auger Observatory we show full compatibility between our radio and the previously published fluorescence dataset, and between a subset of air showers observed simultaneously with both radio and fluorescence techniques, a measurement setup unique to the Pierre Auger Observatory. Furthermore, we show radio X_{max} resolution as a function of energy and demonstrate the ability to make competitive high-resolution X_{max} measurements with even a sparse radio array.

Background: Apical periodontitis (AP) is a chronic inflammatory response of microbial aetiology. Pathological changes associated with AP may not be visible on radiographic images and may linger without causing any symptoms. Clinicians rely mostly on clinical examination and imaging techniques to establish a diagnosis.

Introduction: Currently, there are no studies evaluating the impact of 3-dimensional (3D) printed models on endodontic surgical treatment planning. The aims of this study were: 1) to determine if 3D models could influence treatment planning; and 2) to assess the effect of 3D supported planning on operator confidence.

Materials: Endodontic practitioners (n = 25) were asked to analyze a preselected cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan of an endodontic surgical case and answer a questionnaire that elucidated their surgical approach.
