Introduction: Acute valvular emergencies, a time-sensitive diagnosis, are nearly impossible to diagnose without ultrasound, and missing the diagnosis can significantly impact patient outcomes. Many emergency physicians lack access to echo technicians and may be uncomfortable performing the ultrasound themselves. Approaching the paucity of review articles, none of which are focused for the emergency physician, can be quite daunting, even for those with extensive ultrasound training.

Texting while walking (TWW) is a dual-task activity that young adults perform in their everyday lives. TWW has been reported to affect gait characteristics such as gait speed, stride length, and cadence. However, the influence of TWW on lower extremity gait function has not been investigated.

National-scale remotely sensed lake trophic state from 1984 through 2020.

Lake trophic state is a key ecosystem property that integrates a lake's physical, chemical, and biological processes. Despite the importance of trophic state as a gauge of lake water quality, standardized and machine-readable observations are uncommon. Remote sensing presents an opportunity to detect and analyze lake trophic state with reproducible, robust methods across time and space.

Determining fall risk change throughout pregnancy: the accuracy of postpartum survey and relationship to fall efficacy.

All epidemiological studies on pregnancy fall risk to date have relied on postpartum recall. This study investigated the accuracy of postpartum recall of falls that were reported during pregnancy, including assessment of fall efficacy as a possible reason for recall inaccuracy. Twenty participants reported fall experiences weekly during pregnancy, but one participant was excluded as an outlier.
