The development of a colloidal synthesis procedure to produce nanomaterials with high shape and size purity is often a time-consuming, iterative process. This is often due to quantitative uncertainties in the required reaction conditions and the time, resources, and expertise intensive characterization methods required for quantitative determination of nanomaterial size and shape. Absorption spectroscopy is often the easiest method for colloidal nanomaterial characterization.

Background: The Blood Pressure and Oxygenation Targets After out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (BOX) trial found no statistically significant differences in mortality or neurological outcomes with mean arterial blood pressure targets of 63 versus 77 mmHg in patients receiving intensive care post-cardiac arrest. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the effect on 1-year mortality and assess heterogeneity in treatment effects (HTE) using Bayesian statistics.

Methods: We analyzed 1-year all-cause mortality, 1-year neurological outcomes, and plasma neuron-specific enolase (NSE) at 48 hours using Bayesian logistic and linear regressions primarily with weakly informative priors.

The mechanism of Pd-catalyzed amination of five-membered heteroaryl halides was investigated by integrating experimental kinetic analysis with kinetic modeling through predictive testing and likelihood ratio analysis, revealing an atypical productive coupling pathway and multiple off-cycle events. The GPhos-supported Pd catalyst, along with the moderate-strength base NaOTMS, was previously found to promote efficient coupling between five-membered heteroaryl halides and secondary amines. However, slight deviations from the optimal concentration, temperature, and/or solvent resulted in significantly lower yields, contrary to typical reaction optimization trends.

Aortic root aneurysm is a frequent condition, which is associated with increased mortality and morbidity compared to other aortic aneurysms. The treatment relies on surgery, most often with the Bentall procedure or aortic valve-sparing root replacement (AVSRR). AVSRR is a highly specialised treatment associated with increased survival and low incidences of valve-related complications compared to the Bentall procedure.
