Recently, climate extremes have been grabbing attention as important drivers of environmental change. Here, we assemble an observational inventory of energy and mass fluxes to quantify the ice loss from glaciers on the Russian High Arctic archipelago of Novaya Zemlya. Satellite altimetry reveals that 70 ± 19% of the 149 ± 29 Gt mass loss between 2011 and 2022 occurred in just four high-melt years.

Defects in mitoribosomal function therefore can have serious consequences for the bioenergetic capacity of the cell. Mutation of the conserved mitoribosomal mL44 protein has been directly linked to childhood cardiomyopathy and progressive neurophysiology issues.

Medical physicists routinely perform quality assurance on digital detection systems, part of which involves the testing of flat panel detectors. Flat panels may degrade over time as an increasing number of individual detector elements begin to malfunction. The pixels that correspond to these elements are corrected for using information elsewhere in the detector system, however these corrected elements still constitute a loss in image quality for the system as a whole.

Hypothesis: Canagliflozin, a PO-administered SGLT2i, decreases interstitial glucose concentration (IG) in insulin-treated diabetic dogs.
Animals: Five insulin-treated diabetic dogs.
Equine metabolic syndrome (EMS) is a common welfare problem in horses worldwide. It is characterized by insulin dysregulation (ID), predisposition to laminitis and often obesity. EMS is multifactorial by nature, with both the environment and genetics contributing to the phenotype.
