Article Synopsis
  • Myocardial revascularization surgery (MRV) aims to improve survival in patients with coronary artery disease, but elderly patients face higher risks of complications, particularly postoperative atrial fibrillation (AF).
  • A study of 90 cases and 360 controls found that 15.5% of patients with postoperative AF died, compared to 9.44% in the control group, with factors like being over 60 and undergoing emergency surgery linked to higher AF risk.
  • The study underscores the need for strategies to effectively identify and manage these risk factors and complications to reduce morbidity and mortality related to postoperative AF.
