Parkinsonism-hyperpyrexia, a rare consequence of deep brain stimulator malfunction in advanced Parkinson's disease.

Parkinsonism-hyperpyrexia syndrome (PHS) is a rare neurological emergency that shares clinical features with neuroleptic malignant syndrome. It is usually due to sudden deprivation of dopaminergic treatment, although there are cases related to failure of the deep brain stimulation system.

[Formula: see text] Differential neuropsychological profiles in children and adolescents with motor disability in an inclusive educational setting.

The aim of this study was to determine the potential cognitive impairment associated with motor disability in a group of children attending regular schools and to analyze whether there were different cognitive profiles according to the type of motor disability they presented. The study had 87 participants, 31 healthy and 56 with three types of motor disability: Neuromuscular Diseases (NMD Group), Cerebral Palsy-Hemiparesis (CP- HPx Group) and Cerebral Palsy-Diplegia (CP-DP). Ages ranged from 6 to 18 years and they had medium and medium-high socioeconomic and cultural levels.

Analysis of deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (STN-DBS) in patients with monogenic PRKN and LRRK2 forms of Parkinson's disease.

Introduction: Deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus (STN-DBS) is the most common surgical treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD). Patient selection and genetic background can modify the response to this treatment. The objective of this study was to compare both clinical and pharmacologic response of STN-DBS between patients with monogenic forms of PD and non-mutation carriers with idiopathic PD.

The Aftercare Survey: Assessment and intervention practices after brain tumor surgery in Europe.

Background: People with gliomas need specialized neurosurgical, neuro-oncological, psycho-oncological, and neuropsychological care. The role of language and cognitive recovery and rehabilitation in patients' well-being and resumption of work is crucial, but there are no clear guidelines for the ideal timing and character of assessments and interventions. Consensus statement for the management of generalized tonic-clonic seizures in Spain.

Objective: To develop recommendations for the management of patients with primary or secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS) based on best evidence and experience.

Methods: The Delphi methodology was followed. A multidisciplinary panel of 10 experts was established, who defined the scope, users and preliminary recommendations.
