Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by chronic inflammation of the colorectum. Histological remission has emerged as a potential future treatment goal; however, the histopathological assessment of intestinal inflammation in UC remains challenging with a multitude of available scoring systems and the need for a pathologist with expertise in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). In previous studies, quantitative phase imaging (QPI) including digital holographic microscopy (DHM) was successfully applied as an objective method for stain-free quantification of the degree of inflammation in tissue sections.

This study investigated the effects of peak power and endurance training on expression levels of fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) and 1-hydroxylase (CYP27b1) in bone.

The aim of this study was to design and manufacture an easily assembled cartilage implant model for auricular reconstruction. First, the printing accuracy and mechanical properties of 3D-printed poly-ε-caprolactone (PCL) scaffolds with varying porosities were determined to assess overall material properties. Next, the applicability of alginate as cell carrier for the cartilage implant model was determined.
