Background: Evidence suggests pathological roles of myelination in neurodevelopmental disorders, but our understanding is limited. We investigated quantitative T1 mapping (QT1) as a clinically feasible tool for measuring myelination in children with neurodevelopmental disorders of the RAS-MAPK signaling pathway (RASopathies).

Methods: We collected QT1, diffusion-weighted, and structural MRI scans from 72 children (49 RASopathies, 23 typical developing (TD)).

In severe heart failure with hemodynamic failure, when inotropic therapies no longer suffice (INTERMACS [Interagency Registry for Mechanically Assisted Circulatory Support] 1), temporary mechanical support is used as a bridging measure until a more definitive treatment, such as a left ventricular assist device, a total artificial heart or transplantation, is performed. Due to shear stress during the passage of blood through the pump, limited hemolysis is to be expected. We describe the case of a 37-year-old patient with terminal heart failure who suffered severe hemolysis during treatment with temporary mechanical support.

Rapid detection of respiratory diseases using a noninvasive bind-and-detect breath test could shift the future of rapid diagnostics. Commercially available biotinylated anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein antibody was conjugated to streptavidin-coated quantum dots, purified, and adsorbed onto magnetic-graphene oxide (M-GO) flakes to quench the conjugate. When inactivated SARS-CoV-2 was added at increasing levels, the antibody-quantum dot conjugates desorbed from the M-GO as a function of virus concentration with an apparent limit of detection ~ 9,600 inactivated virus particles within 2-5 min in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) plus 10 mM Mg assessed by a spectrofluorometer.

prosthetic joint infections (PJIs) are broadly considered incurable, and clinical diagnostics that guide conservative vs. aggressive surgical treatments don't exist. Multi-omics studies in a humanized NSG-SGM3 BLT mouse model demonstrate human T cells: 1) are remarkably heterogenous in gene expression and numbers, and 2) exist as a mixed population of activated, progenitor-exhausted, and terminally-exhausted Th1/Th17 cells with increased expression of immune checkpoint proteins (LAG3, TIM-3).
