Many case studies reported psychiatric symptoms during the months before a brain tumor (BT) is diagnosed. Unfortunately, these symptoms are rarely considered as a warning of an organic problem and patients are regularly misoriented towards psychiatric care. Knowing better what psychiatric symptoms look like in patients with a BT would help to diagnose it sooner, which would obviously benefit the patient.

Various studies have evaluated the adjunctive use of chemical and antimicrobial treatments to assist in the mechanical removal of oral microbial biofilm from tissue surfaces during scaling and root planning therapy (SRP). The current study demonstrates the elimination of two classes of surrogate molecular markers from periodontal disease sites. This suggests the current agent may be a more effective adjunctive cleansing agent for complete biofilm removal.

In this paper, we examine prospects for the manufacture of patient-specific biomedical implants replacing hard tissues (bone), particularly knee and hip stems and large bone (femoral) intramedullary rods, using additive manufacturing (AM) by electron beam melting (EBM). Of particular interest is the fabrication of complex functional (biocompatible) mesh arrays. Mesh elements or unit cells can be divided into different regions in order to use different cell designs in different areas of the component to produce various or continually varying (functionally graded) mesh densities.

The metabolism and excretion of risperidone (RIS; 3-[2-[4-(6-fluoro-1,2-benzisoxazole-3-yl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-6,7,8,9- tetrahydro-2-methyl-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one), a novel antipsychotic drug, were studied after single po administration of radiolabeled RIS to rats and dogs. In rats, the excretion of the radioactivity was very rapid. The predominant excretion in rat feces (78-82% of the dose) was related to an extensive biliary excretion of metabolites (72-79% of the dose), only a small part of which underwent enterohepatic circulation.
