C-reactive protein (CRP) is the protein of the acute stage responding sensitively to changes which take place in the organism in some pathological conditions. The authors were concerned with its quantitative estimation by a microturbidimetric method the advantage of which is greater rapidity and sensitivity, as compared with hitherto used methods for the assessment of the CRP level in our laboratories.

A method of "sandwich" enzyme immunoassay was developed for determination of human serum myoglobin with the use of myoglobin isolated from human myocardium and gammaglobulin fraction of a specific sheep antiserum labelled with horseradish peroxidase. The linear part of the calibration curve within the range of 0.08-2.

The development of pharmacotherapy implies great advantages for patients, at the same time it is, however, also the source of more frequent side-effects of drugs, which may result also from mutual interactions of commonly used drugs. The authors describe a case of ergotism which developed as a result of drug interaction between the ergot uterotonic Cornutamine and the marcolid antibiotic Erythromycin. This interaction could have seriously damaged the health of the young woman.

Quantitation of IgG, IgA and IgM immunoglobulins and C3, C4 components in human serum samples by the radial immunodiffusion technique and by the nephelometric and turbidimetric assays was compared using the linear regression analysis method. Comparisons of the two methods run in polyethylene glycol showed close agreement between methods and a relatively high degree of correlation between the parameters studied. Compared to the radial immunodiffusion technique, nephelometry and turbidimetry gave good correlation between parameters, but the agreement between tests was worse, especially in the case of C3 component determinations in fresh samples of patients' sera.
