Background: A review and outcome of laparoscopic colorectal surgery in the visceral surgery unit in the Zitha Hospital for the year 2002.

Methods: All patients, presenting with benign or malignant disease of the colon or rectum were evaluated. Depending on the tumour size, a laparoscopic approach is advocated whenever possible.
