Article Synopsis
  • Evidence-based research is essential in healthcare, yet many medical undergraduates in India lack awareness and involvement in research due to an unstructured curriculum.
  • A participatory action research study developed a structured research module that was integrated into the MBBS program, enhancing research skills and experiences among students.
  • The initiative led to a significant increase in UG research projects, scholarships, and a supportive research environment at the medical college, demonstrating the program's effectiveness and value.

Background: Plasma cell myeloma (PCM) is a common adult hematological neoplasm of terminally differentiated B-cells resulting in accumulation of monoclonal plasma cells. PCM is heterogeneous disease with survival time varies from months to years, determined by age, stage, cytogenetics abnormalities, and treatment response. There is conflicting evidence in role of immunophenotype as a prognostic indicator.

The automated synthesis of small organic molecules from modular building blocks has the potential to transform our capacity to create medicines and materials. Disruptive acceleration of this molecule-building strategy broadly unlocks its functional potential and requires the integration of many new assembly chemistries. Although recent advances in high-throughput chemistry can speed up the development of appropriate synthetic methods, for example, in selecting appropriate chemical reaction conditions from the vast range of potential options, equivalent high-throughput analytical methods are needed.

Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to compare the effects of intrathecal bupivacaine combined with either fentanyl or midazolam for patients undergoing lower abdominal and limb surgeries, involving 60 participants divided into two groups.
  • Group F received bupivacaine and fentanyl, while Group M received bupivacaine and midazolam, with outcomes measured in terms of onset time and duration of sensory and motor blocks.
  • Results showed that Group F had significantly longer sensory and motor blockade durations and quicker onset times compared to Group M, as well as better overall analgesia.
