In the years 1985-1990, 987 patients with retinal detachment were treated in the Ophthalmological Clinic of Medical Academy in Poznań. In 25 patients, from the above group, the coexistence of retinoschisis was observed. The clinical picture of retinal detachment and retinoschisis was the basis for explaining the pathogenesis of two different phenomena: "retinoschisis versus retinal detachment" and "retinal detachment versus retinoschisis".

The methods of treatment depended on the size and number of vascular tumours and on the extent and type of retinal detachment. The retina was successfully reattached in 4 eyes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe authors presented methods and results of treatment by means of an argon laser of 12 patients with pathological changes of the retinal vessels. Diagnosed in these patients were: capillary haemangioma (Hippel-Lindau disease), teleangiectasis and macroaneurysms of the retinal vessels. Photocoagulation by argon laser of these vascular changes in these patients in right time showed to be a favourable therapeutic method, especially when the changes are localized in the posterior pole of the eye.
