Various tracheal incisions (vertical, horizontal, or window) are used by surgeons for creation of a tracheostomy. The inflammatory response and healing varies with each incision and may contribute to complications such as tracheal stenosis. This study evaluates the effect of these tracheotomies on early stomal wound healing in a rabbit model.

Many etiologic agents for Meniére's syndrome have been proposed, suggesting a heterogeneous nature for this disorder. Dissimilar etiologies could, of course, yield disparate responses to uniform treatment. Although electrocochleography has provided us with some objective diagnostic criteria, the actual identification of Meniére's syndrome rests predominantly on clinical criteria.

This study was motivated by the need to develop new methods to predict tumor response to chemotherapeutic agents. Using implantable cell-growth chambers, squamous carcinoma cells from head and neck tumors were xenografted into the peritoneal cavity of immunocompetent rats. Animals were divided into control and treatment groups.
